Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center is pleased to take part in the Light the Night Walk in Las Vegas to raise money for research into blood cancer treatments. This national program brings together those touched by blood cancers and their supporters in over 200 communities in hopes of funding life-saving research initiatives. Here is a look at the program and how you can get involved.
What Is Light the Night?
Light the Night is an annual fundraising walk organized by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The length of the walk course varies from location to location but is suitable for all fitness levels and is held at a leisurely pace. To take part in the walk, participants sign up for a team and raised funds individually. Everyone who raises $100 or more becomes a Champion for the Cure and receives a Light the Night t-shirt, a wristband for food, and an illuminated lantern to carry for the walk. People who raise more than $1,000 become members of the Bright Lights Club.
How Are the Funds Used?
The proceeds from Light the Night support efforts to cure blood cancers, including leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, and myeloma. The money pays for research projects, government advocacy initiatives, community outreach and education efforts, and patient assistance programs. Light the Night is also a tremendous opportunity to stand in solidarity with patients who are currently fighting blood cancers and in remembrance of those who have been lost.
